Why is Cutout going past the depth of my board?

I created a cutout for this piece, and when it finished cutting through, it kept going into my wasteboard; fortunately I was able to stop it quickly.

Looking back at the simulation, it shows it going all the way past the bottom of the board and down another inch or so!

Cutting Board-Tieskoetter1.c2d (136 KB)

I tried it set both to “t” depth, and the exact depth of the material, but both times the simulation does the same thing. I’m on build 855, on a Mac.

I simulated it with setting DOC to the thickness of your material and it simulated correctly. I am not sure why “t” is cutting deeper than the depth of your material.

That’s strange; this is how my simulation looks.

Not sure if that Dropbox link is working. But it’s definitely cutting way too deep in my simulation on v855

I can’t open your file right now, but if you enter T for the breakthrough, it’s going to get through the material by a lot. If you want to end the cut at the bottom of the material, the breakthrough should be 0.

If you enter t as you have:

Then the file will cut that additional distance:

If you set the value to 0:

then the cut will end at the bottom of the Stock as indicated by the diagram in the toolpath:

Oh! I guess I should have figure that out from the illustration. Would you consider putting a warning in there if someone chooses something > 0?

Thanks for the help!

I’ve recently been using the cutout toolpath and the break through I use .001. Works perfectly
