Why is this not filling on the cut?

Not sure why this is not carving out the center of the lettering. It will only contour the outside. I also attached another with ‘Test’. Will that one work to cut the crap in the middle?

If you want the area around a text to be cut, then select it and some surrounding geometry to define where the cut will extend:

Sorry, I explained it poorly. The one that does not have ‘test’ was leaving material in the middle of the cuts so it looked like a contour. The one labeled ‘text’ seems like it would cut out the middle material as well.

What are your thoughts on the 0.025 depth on a 30 degree. The detail goes away as I go deeper.

I am cutting into the text not around it.

Because the tool you have chosen for pocket clearing is too large to fit inside the text:

Even if I put the pocket clear at a 30 degree (inefficient) it says it is an empty tool path. So I did this again with ‘test’ and it does not pocket clear? Any way you know to pocket clear these???

You need to:

  • cut shallowly enough that a region is left uncut
  • select a tool which is small enough to fit inside the uncut region

Draw the widest region up in profile, and a profile of the tool, and position it so that it will cut to the desired depth.

If you select the text:

d

and assign an Advanced V carving to a suitably shallow depth, then pocket clearing will happen — if a sufficiently large area is left uncut — this design is quite small/delicate, so that isn’t likely to happen, unless you increase its size.

I am attempting an engraving bit, we shall see. It took it in the program as designed. We shall see.
