Noticed that there seems to be black dust on top of the x rail where the x belt runs. Could the belt be getting chewed up? Any thoughts on what to check first?
Remove the belt and inspect it?
They are a wear item, and we have replacements in our Maintenance Kits in the shop.
So I ordered a new belt and it should be in soon. I removed the old one and didn’t see any worn teeth but the edges look frayed. I ran another cut today and about half way through I started losing steps on the x axis. 15 degree v bit running at 50% feeds that I normally run. I did notice the the x belt looks like it is moving or slipping. Pulled the x motor and the set screws seemed right but neither were on the flat part of the motor stem. Removed the sets screws and could not get the pulley to trun in the shaft. Had to use some pliers to get it line up. Here is a picture of the x motor. Does the it look right? The manual shows some space between the back of the pulley and the motor face. Also have a video of the belt slipping but it kinda hard to tell. Any help is appreciated.
Put a witness mark on the pulley. It was pointed out, put the mark lineing up with the flat.
Good luck
