Hello all. I’m looking at the Shapeoko Pro XL as it is the maximum size machine I’ll be able to squeeze under one of the benches in my tiny production room. The Carbide3D website states the footprint is 50" wide x 24.65" deep x 19" tall and I intend to add the HDZ to it so I figure that will bring the total height up to around 23".
My question is: what is the minimum enclosure interior size I’ll be able to get away with to not have any interference with the machine? I’ve heard I’ll need a few extra inches in all directions to accommodate the stepper motors. Is that accurate or are they taken into account on the footprint size? I’m working with a width of 58" and height of 30", so I think I’ll be fine there, but it’s the depth I’m most worried about. If I can keep the total depth around 28" it will make access to my UV laser and 3D printer a lot easier but I could stretch it out to 32" if absolutely necessary. Is that possible?
It would be great to hear from some Pro XL owners about just how much space it needs. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
