Is it worth it to replace my Z- Plus with the HDZ.
If you want to push the machine harder, have more working area along the X- and Z-axes, or have more precision along the Z-axis, or to use a weighty spindle, yes.
I have an SO3 XXL. I have had it since 2019. I upgraded to the HDZ and to me it was worth it. My HDZ was the first generation so you used your original router mount on the HDZ. The original was 69MM (Dewalt) and had a sleeve for the 66MM (Makita/C3D). Not sure about the newer ones so you have to make sure your router will fit after getting the HDZ.
As far as if it was worth it? I had the original belt drive and the upgrade was well worth it. Upgrading from Z-Plus I am not so sure it would be worth it. The original belt Z was crappy and the HDZ made a world of difference. If you have a newer SO3 with Z-Plus??? It is your money but the HDZ is a great upgrade from the Belt Z.
