XXL squaring/homing issues

Hello all,

Few things I can’t wrap my head around.

  1. Sharing machine- off like 1/4” front right and back left when carriage is placed in front and back.

  2. Initial homing- machines powered, all 3 limit switches validated to open/close. Initial homing, Z axis intermittently moves correctly about 1/3 of my attempts to troubleshoot homing sequence/errors. Sometimes it doesn’t move at all. X axis moves 12 inches LEFT, not right and triggers an error code (assuming because it’s not found a limit switch), which stops the homing sequence.

I’ve read and watched about everything under the sun for fixes, exchanged numerous emails with carbide 3D and am still not making progress to getting up and running.

Going on day 3…If the wife sees no action, we both might be plotting 6 feet under!

Oh and I live in Washington state, if anyone is local and would like to pair up!

  1. for squaring see: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Calibration_and_Squaring_the_Machine
  2. If the machine doesn’t move reliably check the wiring. Send the configuration if you haven’t: https://docs.carbide3d.com/support/carbideupdater/#carbide-motion-v4 If the machine moves left rather than right after the configuration was sent, then it’s either miswired (check per: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/SO3_Function_Test#Direction_Correction ) or the electronics are damaged so that it’s only moving in the one direction — try jogging manually

(and all of the above is essentially what you were told via support)

Update!

Since accomplishing the function test, it appears the X and Z wires were mismarked. Long story short I did the function check and noticed the mismatch, no wire mismatches, just plug.

It appears I am functional now!!! Now to tackle the squaring of the machine.

Thanks so much, enjoy your Friday guys/gals!
