Every time I put a measurement I cut more than the depth. For example, I set the material to be 44" and I set it to cross it at 44" and it continued cutting. I’m already tired, and I’ve tried everything, checking cables, motors, belts, settings, everything. I don’t know what to do
Please try making a very small, very simple test file.
Set up the file per:
https://carbide3d.com/hub/courses/create/job-setup/
and set the zero relative to the stock per:
https://my.carbide3d.com/gswso/06/
then run the file — does it cut as expected?
If it doesn’t, upload the .c2d file, let us know step-by-step how you are securing your stock and setting zero relative to it and managing all tool changes as well as photos showing the stock still in place on the machine, the machine at the origin (or a specified offset from it) and photos showing the actual measurement of the cut part and we will do our best to look into this with you.
I am not sure what your issue is. Is your depth of a pocket too deep or is your X and Y measurements off.
If you are cutting deeper than you want run setup and make sure that if you have a Z-Plus you did not pick HDZ. The HDZ has more steps per MM than a Z-Plus. So if you accidentally picked an HDZ instead of a Z-Plus every pocket will be deeper because you are sending more steps per MM so you cut deeper.
I did not look at the file @WillAdams sent but you can draw a 6" square in CC and do an inside contour on the square and then measure to the outside of the 4 walls it should be 6". If it is not consistent you could have a mechanical issue or if it is consistently off but off the same amount then you may need to change gbrl settings for steps per MM. Repeat cutting multiple squares not just one. Do not change the gbrl settings until you are sure there are no mechanical issues and you are consistently off every time you cut that 6" square.
Since you have an SO4 check your belt tensions and your v-wheels are properly adjusted. The top wheels do not adjust just the bottom ones. Make sure all the v-wheels are clean and debris free. Also clean your rails. I use a white 3M finishing pad. Do not use anything like sand paper because you dont want to scratch your rails or v-wheels. Also check that your dust collection host is not catching on something.
After you get your belts and v-wheels checked and/or adjusted power off your Shapeoko and move the gantry s-l-o-w-l-y front to back and side to side. If you move the gantry too fast it will sound like a belt is sliping. So move slowly. If you find any rough spots find out what is causing that and fix it.
Most issues on SO3 and SO4 machines losing steps or not cutting accurately boil down to mechanical issues. You could have connection problems but leave that until everything else is checked and adjusted. You dont want to open up a rats nest without good reason.
Thank you for taking the time to share countless details to verify. My machine is the So4. check belts check motors it sounds good even when I check the So if I have a piece of mahogany with a thickness of 55" and I want to make several circles, any geometric figure, whether with a 1/8 or 1/4 drill bit, it continues to go deeper, cutting more and more than 55". I would love to share a video. but it doesn’t allow me
