Z Limit Switch stuck on?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the whole CNC world and acquired a second hand Shapeoko 3 XXL. When I picked it up the previous owner put it through the initialization to show that it worked and I did the same thing once I got it home and had no issues. I went to use it yesterday and today, and it start the initialization process however I get a limit switch (z) error, and a few other error messages. When I look at the control board it appears the limit switch indicator light is constantly lit and when I disconnect the wires for the z limit it goes off. Is there a chance the z limit switch has gone bad?

Hi @cstubbs,

While the machine is powered off, if you manually move the Z gantry away from the top switch, and then power on the machine, is the Z switch LED permanently lit then ?

Contact support@carbide3d.com to troubleshoot in case it is

Hi Julien,

Yes the light is on even when the Z gantry is away from the top switch, it goes off when I disconnect the wires running to the switch.

Thanks, I’ll reach out to support.
