Z Motor Shorting Out

So shorting out may not be the right way to put this but it seems that when my Z is done an operation and is moving to the next location it decides it doesn’t want to pull off all the way and I have ruined a number a projects now due to this.

When this happens I can hear and see the stepper motor freaking out and stuttering up and down. This also happens during the start up and initial homing sequence. Looking for any ideas or if a replacement cable is available for purchase through Carbide. I bought my XXL a little over a year ago and while it has been a great machine I have had many issues with it and have had to find a number of work arounds.

I use my machine largely for making my blanks for any of my laser engraved games I make as part of my business. A solution or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Riley

I would get ahold of CC on this issue. Had the same thing happen to me. They made it right

Sounds wonderful but who do you mean by CC? Carbide Create?

Yes . Fantastic support

I think Michael meant contact Carbide3D support : support@carbide3d.com, and they’ll address this issue which is more than likely a cabling/connector issue

Same with mine. It was freaking out and plunging or cutting too deep. I messed with it for a long time and could never get it to cut consistently since it was new. Finally I decided to contact them. They sent me parts over night and it seems to be working great now. It was my connector for the Z motor and probably the motor it’s self. They sent me a bunch of parts and the new wire. They have really great support. Email Fleming and he’ll take care of you.
Try wiggling your Z motor connector. If you hear a high pitch noise or grinding in the motor you have the same issue I had. They’ll fix you up.
