I recently picked up a 3 XXL upgraded to to a Z plus Z axis. I’m finally getting around to trying to make this work and it’s giving me an error when homing the Z axis. The prox switch is mounted at the top of the Z plate, but during homing it goes down away from the prox switch. Is that normal? I put a wrench in front of all three prox probes and the light on each one came on.
Check your settings to make sure it is set for the Z Plus and not the HDZ.
The z-plus and HDZ move in the same direction, but the belt drive would move the other way. Go into settings and send new configuration (or setup new machine) in carbide motion.
I received the error while going through new machine setup. I’ll double check that I’m making the correct selections.
On my Shapeoko 3 the Z-Plus and HDZ stepper motors run in opposite directions. Do the newer machines Z-Plus and HDZ run in the same direction?
Here is what I did.
In your video when you hit download, there is a dropdown menu for the Shapeoko 3 that has Shapeoko 3 - Belt Drive Z selected. hit that menu and select the Shapeoko 3 - HDZ.
Also your X-axis prox switch is active in that video, so I’d turn it off and move the machine away from the proximity sensor.
Good catch, I didn’t realize there were other choices.
Thanks for the help!
