I have seen a touch probe on Ebay with just two wires. I was wondering will this work with XL! Thanks in advance for help .

Anything that can close a circuit can work, so this can definitely work, though not with Carbide Motion, which has hardcoded dimensions for the (Carbide3D) probe. You will have to use a different sender.

I use the XYZ probe from Dog River on Amazon. Works perfectly with CM. I also made a combination holder and bitsetter with my 3D printer. No fancy lights though I suspect the one from CC to be a little more durable in the long run.
If you ask me, the light is actually a large part of the added value, since it allows one to double-check very quickly that the probe circuit is working before launching the probing cycle. Anyone who has ever broken a small endmill due to a loose probe connection knows how much that’s worth

Very true. I forgot to even ground it once or twice which makes a mess of things.
