Z zero ignored?

Steps taken:
Launch CM
Turn on SO5 (at pendant)
Connect to machine
Initialize machine
Measure bit
Click jog
Remeasure bit
Set x/y/z zero
Load file
Start file
Load bit
Machine runs to start and plunges to z -21mm.

File is set to 0 at top, lower left corner. Toolpaths all start at 0 z.

I’m just kind of baffled as to what might be causing this.

Please post the .c2d file, step-by-step notes on how one is securing the stock and setting zero relative to it and managing all tool changes and a photo showing an attempt at cutting still in place on the machine.

Between Load bit and Machine runs to start and plunges to z - 21mm does the machine measure the bit at the BitSetter?

I paused the job so I didn’t break another bit (the broken bit can be seen to the left of the empty hole). Tried to time it right, but I was slightly too fast. I screwed up the video, but the link is the moment of impact. I don’t really want to try again at the moment.

Stock is secured with painter’s tape and CA glue. Z zero set with paper method.

At initialize, machine homes then rapids to but change.
Inset 1/8 downcut and click ok.
Tool measures, run screen shows.
Click Jog, CM prompts for measure.
Measure bit.
Move to set 0/0/0 on lower left corner of stock at stock top.
Load file.
Start
Start
Prompts for tool insertion. 1/8” downcut installed.
Click ok.
Prompts for spindle start.
Click ok.
Machine goes to start position and rapidly plunges (no slowing) to me hitting pause.

Email drafted.

And yes, I am using bitsetter with no issues since receiving v4 controller.

Looks like your depth of cut on the bit is .8 inches

Looking at the initial cut, the setting of 0.8" depth per pass looks a little aggressive for a 1/8" downcut mill

Of course it is. Thanks y’all. It’s a glaring error.

I’ve been writing code for 30 years. It’s always something simple and stupid. I appreciate the extra eyes.
