Carving on the edge

Been meaning to try to take advantage of Shapeoko’s overhang off the front of the machine to do some edge joinery, so I ran a quick test on some scrap. The idea is to mill some creative mortise and tenon joints instead of the usual “designed for CNC” stuff. Awesome that you can mill the edges of the stock with this sort of setup. I left the dust collector off for this test so I could watch it and take pictures, and used some pretty conservative feeds/speeds.

Looks like this will definitely be a thing.

Not shown in the photos is that I used a 123 block to tweak the edge of the stock level, two inches above the wasteboard.
