What CNC bit used to cut out letters

(Bernie Parker) #1

I have a question on what type of bit needed to achieve a clean cut for letters from thin birch stock?
Thanks
Bernie

For thin stock you’d probably want a downcut bit, but one whose diameter matches up with the internal radii of the letters you’re cutting.

Another option is to do a V carve around the perimeter — this will cut all the way into small details and result in a beveled letter

Or, combine both styles of cutting — some information which could be adapted here: Adding geometry to cut as a pocket with a finishing pass
