2D Carbide Create Project Drawings

Hi all, I am stumped and I need direction. I am drawing a project in Carbide Create that has wheels. I can design and cut what I would call the top view. But I have some hidden lines for the axles on the wheels. These are nothing but a couple of thru holes but unless I show the hidden lines in the top view, they are invisible. And, there are no details. So can I just create a side view as a 2nd cut and material setup? Do I need to go 3D? or what. Help

Arguably, you would want a full-fledged 3D CAD program — we sell one, Alibre:

Alibre Workshop CAD/CAM

but the other approach would just be to add a layer, say “Side View” and draw the side view there.

Then you could machine a template or fixture using that to machine any elements needed in the side, or export that as an SVG, print it, and glue it to the side of the part and finish the features in the side by hand.

Or, use a fixture such as:

4 Sided Flip Frame Prototype

This is a design I made using Carbide Create for a 4 sided Jig that fits in the Carbide 3D Low profile vise channel, and allows 4 sided rotation. This design allows for a 3.25" long and 1.6" round part to be machined on 4 sides. I read your post but dont quite understand what you are trying to do. Post your file and that will help explain better what you are trying to do. There are a lot of really good people here on the forum that will help.
