3D Help NC badge

I am trying to make a 3D of the NC highway patrol badge. I purchased a file on Etsy that is a 3D print and another with just multiple files. I have attempted to carve it but not coming out the way I would like, don’t know if my depth for the 3D is off??? Has anyone ever tried to make something like this?

What file types are provided?

If an STL and if you are trying to use Carbide Create Pro see:

I have almost all types of files STL JPG and more. Trying to add a photo of what I have created and what I would like it to look like just don’t know how.

The STL version should “just work” as described in the link above.

If it doesn’t work thus in Carbide Create Pro, let us know at support and we will look into this with you.

Given an STL file:

We make note of the dimension and create a Carbide Create file of those dimensions:

(also setting Model Resolution to “Very High”)

Draw in geometry to determine the location of the STL import:

and import the STL:

and adjust the parameters:

and verify the import in 3D:

right-click on the STL element:

and choose “Create outline vectors”:

OK

Set up 3D toolpaths with suitable tooling:

Note that for the 3D Finishing toolpath it will be helpful to adjust the default Stepover:

If the selected tool is not able to cut details, it may be necessary to use a smaller tool:

Iterate and adjust as necessary — note that when using small tools it will be necessary to take into consideration the interaction of cutting flute length and vertical features. Also remember not to skip sizes, e.g., before making a cut with a 1/32" tool, make sure to have a preceding toolpath w/ a 1/16" tool.

With suitable settings it should be possible to arrive at something like to:

(note that the run-time on that file is a bit excessive and would want to be adjusted)

Heck YA brother going to try that first thing in the morning I really do appreciate the knowledge and advise .

Can not right click to get the create outline vectors?
