3XL accuracy check

I have a lightly used Shapeoko 3XL. I am working a project to cut walnut 1” X 18” with some pockets. The 1” part that I am cutting ends up at .9750” rather than 1”.
Should I always increase the dimensions in Carbide Create to cover the difference or is there something wrong with my machine accuracy?

Steve

That is more than half a millimeter which is significant. I would recommend replacing the belts and pulleys:

If that does not fix it you might need to calibrate the steps per mm in GRBL.

Thanks so much for the input into getting my machine more accurate. After some tweaking, I am around .04mm on X, spot on y and .08mm z.

After all these adjustments I reset up my machine. The only issue I see is that my X axis when jogging seems to glide to its position. Starts out slower then ramps up and glides to its spot. It glides correctly to the so it should. It never did this before. Is this an issue?

Thank you
Steve
