Could the problem have been related to what you posted here?

X axis will only move 1 cm

I had the same issue two days ago on a new SP5.1. I ended up (with the machine fully powered down) using a spreader clamp and forcing the x-axis to the left past the stoppage. Once I did that, it moved “easily” by hand when off, and has been working fine since.
