I was thinking of trying to glue faux leather to Wood and then cutting out a shape. Has anyone ever tried something like that?
I’ve cut leather by adhering it (temporarily) to MDF using double-sided tape, then cutting it w/ a drag knife (had to program the leading in/out by hand in G-code).
If the leather is glued down it might work to just cut w/ a router — might also need to cover with something making a sandwich to help hold it in place.

Yes, I made a leather flashlight holder. Just used blue masking tape and CA glue to hold it to a sheet of 1/8" thick plywood. Worked great. I recommend using downcut bits for cuts. Much cleaner edges with downcut bite. Upcut bits for holes were fine.
