Is there anyway to have the sim show how a point cutter bit will round over the edge? Does Carbide create only simulate bits sold by carbide
No, CC only supports endmill, ballnose & V bits. You can use other more complex bit geometries, but the program cannot take the complex cutter geometry into account nor simulate it.
You can sort of simulate a point cutter as a V-bit just to get an idea of what the bit will take off to ensure it’s not getting too close to other features, but that’s about it - it will simply look like V-groove or chamfer in the simulation.
Carbide Create will support any tool of a supported geometry which is correctly entered:
- Square
- Ball nose
- V
There are also “Engravers” (#501 and #502 and a quite acute Amana V endmill), but for some reason M.C. Etchers are entered as Square endmills.
