I normally don’t do corner probing that often, so I’m not really sure when this issue started. Today when doing a corner probe with my bitzero v1, I get everything setup properly, then in CM, click probe, corner, select the proper size bit and go. It touches for Z, then lifts and immediately drives the bit back into the probe, but it doesn’t stop and throws Error 4.
I did confirm it’s set to bitzero v1. It probes Z only perfectly.
I searched and found a few others having this problem, but no resolution was ever posted to those.
The probe signal is recognized when I touch the wire to the block. It’s functioning properly for probing Z, but, something is wrong when corner is selected. After touching to measure Z, it doesn’t move to the side of the block to measure X or Y. It just drives the bit back down into the block and doesn’t stop until the motor stalls for 2-3 seconds. Then the error comes up. I’ll try to get a video of what’s happening later today.
I just recently went from CM 651 to 653 on my MacBook Pro. My v1 BitZero works just fine before and after the update. That said, there was a time when I experienced the same behavior you describe. I got to the point that I would stand ready to power off my machine if I saw the probing tool start to take a second dive at the BZ.
Oddly enough, it just seemed to fix itself. I ended up powering off my machine and computer over night. I went as far as flipping the power switch on after unplugging the power supply on the Shapeoko.
I’m sure this isn’t much help but it worked for me.
No, Windows. My machine gets fully powered off every day. I flip the breaker to the whole setup. It’s not a huge deal, but it’d be nice if it worked like it should.
and the machine moved down, probed for Z, lifted, moved up, moved left, moved down, probed for X, moved up, moved right, moved forward, moved down, probed for Y, lifted, moved back and then prompted:
So yesterday, that was not what my machine was doing. It would not move to the side to probe for X after doing Z. It probed Z, lifted, then rammed back down into the probe until the Z motor stalled and errored out. It did this multiple times.
And of course when I was trying to get it on video today, it works as it should I guess I just had to threaten it, or maybe the power cycle from yesterday to today is what fixed it.
