I make a lot of catch all trays and my stock material thickness varies a couple of millimeters from piece to piece. As such, I’ve made my designs to use expressions (like t-1) as much as possible. When do this in the Advanced V Carve tool dialog, I’ve encountered a problem when cutting the file on my 5 Pro. The machine lowers too far down and bumps the bottom of the pocket (cut in a previous tool path) and then is raised ever so slightly above the pocket bottom so that it does not actually make a cut. In this instance I have the start depth set as t-4.9 and the max depth as t-4.2. That should make a cut that is .7mm deep, but that is not what is happening on my machine.
So my question is, should expressions work in Advanced V Carve?
Thanks Will. I’ll consider trying the beta version of CC. I’m a little reluctant to try it because I’m trying to limit my self as the only major variable while I learn all of this stuff. lol
