Cannot get the seams on the Baseball to look right

Just bought a Shapeoko 5 pro and the preprogramed library for the baseball, I cannot get the seams to look good in the simulation. Also, I’ve tried the Army seal and not all the art will be displayed after Vcarve.

Two issues with this file:

  • there is open geometry (indicated by being magenta)
  • the surrounding geometry is trebled:

First, delete the extraneous surrounding pieces (zooming in to see which is in the right place), then draw in geometry which defines how the surrounding profile may be incorporated with the seams at the edge which are partially drawn with open geometry:

then duplicate the surrounding geometry and use Trim Vectors to isolate what is needed to close this geometry:

OK

Remove the geometry used for trimming:

Then select the open geometry which defines this outer seam:

Yes

Repeat for the other seams

Note that in some instances there is doubled-up text:

Delete the duplicates.

Note that where text overlaps:

The text should be converted to curves:

and then Trim Vectors used to remove the overlapping geometry:

OK

Use Join Vectors to close this geometry:

Yes

Select the stitching:

Apply an Advanced V carving toolpath to the stitching.

Select the text and apply an Advanced V carving toolpath:

Select the open geometry of the seams:

and apply a No offset contour:

Draw in in surrounding geometry:

Select it and the outline geometry:

apply an Advanced V carving:
