OK. Hopefully you are showing this as a temporary workaround rather than how people will need to deal with this behavior baked into Carbide Create from now on…?
One more for the weekend- 824 is up at Carbide Create Beta Downloads
- (NEW) First pass at a Print command. It currently supports printing the visible design on a single sheet.
- (FIX) The tooltip for V-carve tool paths with no pocked showed a pocket tool, even though it wasn’t being used. The root problem here may have been the cause of missing V-carve tool paths, but
- (FIX) We made sure pockets will be linked layer-first to avoid slotting.
While you’re working on print and print preview…if you could get that image into the icon for the file, it would be fantastic! Like they do in Lightburn:
This would greatly help selection of the right file when you have many in a directory.
Thanks!

- (FIX) Reworked the trim command again to make it more robust.
- (INTERNAL) Reworked mouse and keyboard handling in the following commands: Trim, Tabs, Measure, Fillet All, Fillet, Duplicate, Create Text, Create Rectangle, Create Polygon, Create Circle, Background, Create Curve, Create Polyline, Circular Array, Linear Array, and Import STL
This was a bigger change than we wanted at this stage, but it was better to pull the band-aid off and make some of the internals more consistent.
Can grab & move vector shapes via their Center nodes again!
But also discovered that once into the Duplicate mode it won’t let me out! The Done button doesn’t seem to do anything.
Same for me on the Mac version.
826 Circles are defaulting to “corner to corner” mode. I have to hold shift to draw center-radius. ?
and rectangles and regular polygons, so presumably this is new/intentional behaviour as noted above:

Not sure when the layer panel got whacked…
Clicking on the color icon changes the color for the active layer, not the layer clicked on
Eye & Lock icons no longer working for hide/show & lock.
Double clicking the layer name to activate is working intermittently for me?
It seems that one can only interact with the current (Active) layer.
826 won’t allow you to drag out a circle vertically. The circle decreases in size and ultimately disappears the more you try to drag it out.
Hold down shift to draw as was previously done (though now the drawing is interrupted by snapping to the node of the object itself intermittently).
The default mode now is to draw at a diagonal, establishing the left/right, up/down extent.
Selecting a layer to be Active has some oddness about it. Clicking on the layer label doesn’t seem to make a layer Active - but clicking to the left/right of the Color swatch or on the Gear button does.
Interesting, so selecting a layer can only be done in the white space around the icons/name
And the color is being changed for the selected (not active) layer.
Double-clicking in the white space does work to change the active layer.
But the show/hide & lock icons are not working.
I don’t think that changed in the past few releases, but I can see the behavior, so it should be a thing we can fix.
Maybe I didn’t RTFM closely enough, but I discovered accidentally that I can window-select all the vectors, choose [Join] and CC will join everything that’s joinable in the whole workfile…

- (FIX) The “done” button in the Duplicate command got disconnected in all the other updates. It’s working again.
- (FIX) Create Circles and Create Polygons default to center->edge mode again.
- (FIX) Clicking on a layer now selects it.
- (FIX) Items on hidden layers no longer generate snap points.
I suspect there’s one more minor release to fix all of the new quirks, but this should be an improvement.
Please tell the entire Carbide Team “thanks” for trudging on to provide users more functionality with CC/CM!
I will. We appreciate all the feedback along the way.
828 is ready to go. We missed one thing for the Create Curve command, but that should be fixed now. Carbide Create Beta Downloads
