Having the file I’m working on close every time I open another to check something or copy an element is already driving me batty. Not sure why it was a good idea to set it up this way. I’d really like to have multiple files (projects) open at the same time as I already find myself combining elements taken from different things I’m working on.
Try the new v8 beta:
Cool! I don’t usually try beta software while I’m just trying to learn the production version, but happy to hear this made the cut for the next version.
I’m already finding v8 more comfortable than previous versions — it looks better to me, more proportionate (this may be a function of the screen scaling settings I use) — the only v8-specific bug I’ve found is trivial, so my suggestion would be to try it.
Unfortunately it appears that copy and paste between the windows in v8 doesn’t work.
That didn’t work on earlier versions either.
You can copy one file into another though. It will bring in all of the geometry and toolpaths so you then need to eliminate the stuff you don’t want. You could put al the stuff from the other file in a layer to make it easier.
