I am doing a project with an advanced v carve toolpath, I need to change my endmill to a different one than is the default bit. Just curious how to do this. Ive tried to research how to do it but I’ve got nothing to come up.
Thanks
This is done using a BitSetter in Carbide Motion/on a Carbide 3D machine.
If that’s not an option, then write out two separate files and re-zero the Z-axis after changing the tool before running the second file.
I have a bitsetter. Do i need it active to change the bit type? I have two separate tool paths, one for an image and another for letters.
Did you configure the BitSetter when running the Setup Wizard:
https://carbide3d.com/hub/docs/shapeoko-setup/
and enable it in Carbide Motion?
What specific bit are you wanting to use?
im trying to switch from a 1/8" bit to a 60-degree V bit.
I got bit setter after I ran the setup wizard. Ive used the machine before, I have just never done a project where i needed two separate bits. I found some instructions online on how to set up the bitsetter but the directions listed arent the same as my machine. I have a 3 xxl
The way this should work is:
- set up the file in Carbide Create so that it uses two separate tools:
- configure the BitSetter using the Setup Wizard:
https://carbide3d.com/hub/docs/shapeoko-setup/
ensuring that it is enabled:
- set the zero relative to the stock as normal and run the file
- when prompted, change the tool, allowing the machine to measure it, see:
If things don’t work, please post photos and screen grabs and we will do our best to look into this with you.
