CM 649 Issue with Jog function

Started using 649 in the last week. Using the Jog function, when I use the “fast” option, all OK. With all the other options i get an extra bump…left, right up and down. With whatever setting the spindle will move twice with each touch. I did go through the “set up a new machine” steps…but no change. I did notice a few new nuances relative to 649. Any help appreciated.

Each touch…as in touch screen? I have that problem on my MS Surface Pro. Does it do it with a mouse click? That’s what I have to do. But if it didn’t do it with your earlier version of motion, this is probably not helpful.

yes, i have a touch screen. Did not happen with the prior version. I normally use Bit Zero for zeroing but recently used the paper approach for a center zero. Which did cause some issue. This must have been the result of some type of change in 649??? Maybe support should be contacted??

I have the same problem with CM 649. Jog no longer usable to zero using paper method due to double motion with each touch (yes, using a touch screen). I’ll have to try with a mouse.
Very frustrating. Definite bug that needs to be fixed.

Just a shot in the dark here but maybe check your touchpad/mouse settings to ensure they are set to one line per click. I’ve had it before where that setting has changed for some unknown reason.

Works fine with a mouse on Win 11 Dell pc.

For anything other than “fast” I use the keyboard which works fine…just have to get used to it.

I am using a very old Microsoft Surface (original) to drive my Shapeoko. Am experiencing the same problem after updating my software from (I believe) 645 to 649. Every tap on the screen causes it to move 2 positions, one on the touch, one on the release.

I have started using the keyboard to avoid the double move.

I am having the same issue with CM 649. I am getting 2 movements for each touch of the screen. This is new behavior. It works fine using the keyboard or mouse, only fails using the touchscreen.

I’m experiencing all kinds of issues related to jogging in the latest version. If i set my machine to the current zero (full lower left hand corner), jogging only works if setting the speed to fast. Anything below fast doesn’t move the machine at all. Very frustrating

Touch control or keyboard used ?

Keyboard or Bluetooth number pad. It’s strange, it works fine if the machine is in some random position, but not in the lower left hand corner. I see the flash of “Busy,” only the machine just doesn’t move. Really wish they would offer links to older versions so I could do some regression testing to figure out what version this broke on.

FWIW, I’m seeing the double move on with a touchscreen tablet running Windows 10 with CM 651. I was not seeing that on CM 636. As I don’t have a real keyboard for this machine, it’s a bummer.

I am currently using a small 3rd party keyboard:

(no affiliation beyond being a satisfied customer)

There are lots of options in this space (and one in development:

also, see the features being worked on for new CM version) — when I’m feeling patient, but working on something a bit more intricate I’ll load a keyboard re-mapping program for a small gamepad:

and use that.

My tablet is an oldie - it has just one USB port, which is what the Shapeoko is connected to. Will the Shapeoko and that Techkeys work through a USB hub? And if so, any particular recommendations? Or, should I find a BT keypad?

A wired hub would be the best option — powered if possible, and keep the wire lengths reasonable.
