I have watched countless videos, and none of them have helped. This one from Carbide Create leaves me totally confused in that (he might be using Carbide Create Pro) because I can’t do what he does, like choose all the vectors then join them, well, the join icon only appears when one line is chosen.
This must be one of the easiest things to do, but every time I am missing something and the simulated tool path, well, I would not dare run it. I have some wood, cherry that needs flattening. Can someone share a toolpath so I can see my mistakes? the wood is 10 wide by 20 inches long. I will be using a 1 inch surfacing bit.
As noted on support, there is a step-by-step on this at:
and there is a sample file there:
That’s a great tutorial. I’ve gotten pretty fast doing it by hand with copy/pasting + joining, but I can’t say I ever thought of using a linear array to scaffold it out quickly.
I really, really wish a surfacing toolpath was built into the base version of CC though. It’s one of the most fundamental CNC operations for me. Even if I’m starting from milled lumber, there’s a decent chance it’s developed a slight twist or cup over time, so I like to surface before doing VCarves to be safe. It’s time consuming to go through these steps to cobble together a raster on every project. This doesn’t feel like something that should be locked behind the pro version.
