File import issue

I have an SVG file that I can not get to load into CC. I have tried to use the “import external file” button under imports and I have also gone to “File” “open” and tried to import. The file in question is not grayed out. When I try to import the file it clicks me back over to the template but the file is not there. I have backed the view way out to make sure that it didn’t place it off of the grid.
Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff
