Firmware update?

Probably a dumb question but how does one update the fimware on a Shapeoko Pro? I updated Motion without difficulty and found info about Carbide updater but the link goes nowhere. Is this still recommended? Thanks!

There’s an official Carbide Updater which we can send the link to if need be — check in at support@carbide3d.com

That said, it’s not likely anyone will need to these days — it’s been a very long while since we shipped a machine w/ Grbl 0.9 and the current v1.1 has been around for a very long while, and should be with us longer yet.

The original SO3 had lower firmware. They created an updater for those machines to bring it up to 1.1f. They have been on 1.1f for some time as @WillAdams stated. I think that the SO5 has had some upgrades but it is specific to the SO5. The SO5 has a different board from the SO3, 4, 4Pro. Not sure what the HDM has for a controller.

You do not need to upgrade an SO4. Should it ever get an upgrade it will be published here.

Hello, I have a SO3, how do I tell which firmware I have? I believe I have the newer one, but now I’m not so sure. Thank you

I cannot hook up to my machine right now but I believe when you open CM it shows the firmware level. You might have to go to the About menu but it does show up in CM. I think if your machine is from 2018 upwards it already has the latest firmware. My 2016 machine had to be updated.

If you are using an older machine with Carbide Motion 3 you have 0.9, if you are using Carbide Motion 4 or 5 you have 1.1
