Honestly Carbide Create does most of what I need it to do these days so this is just a nitpicky detail at this point. It would be awesome if you could spend some time trying to improve the tool path generation vector order. I understand that finding the optimal order to cut out vectors for a tool path is a P=NP sort of operation along the lines of the traveling salesman problem. At the same time Carbide Create does it in a very suboptimal fashion. There are times I feel like I am watching a drunken toddler pick out what to cut next. When cutting out a few hundred vectors on a 4x4 sheet of plywood it gets frustrating watching the spindle cross from one side to the other multiple times when there is a perfectly good vector right by it.
I would like to be able to use dimensions to place things. If I have two circles, I can add a dimension to space them 1" for example. I can work around that fine, but this would make my workflow faster.
Hands down my number one request would be keyboard shortcuts for “Create Vector” options at a minimum and throughout the rest of CC if possible.
For example, instead of having to click on the “Create Polyline” there would be some kind of keyboard shortcut. When I have to create multiple vectors one right after the other using the same tool, it would save quite a bit of time to just have that shortcut in place.
I often read the same/similar recommendation being given on the forum about not doing full depth slot cutting.
Could you create a tool path that has every stepdown at a slight offset from the last profile pass? This would limit the slot depth to one stepdown height and also remove potential tool marks as each successive profile pass is stepped in.
I would like to see an option to run/jog the VFD spindle manually to dial in certain dimensions without having to go back into the file and change. This would increase the efficiency when creating inserts/pockets for other type materials such as from a 3D printer. This would include setting the rpm (based on specific bit diameter) for the jog operation. This would also allow the quick setup of reference fence’s/jigs anywhere on the table to square them with the X/Y axis without having to set up a file and tool path then set the Z precisely.
I have no idea how hard this would be from a programming standpoint however?
I would like to see an extend line feature. Having it work similar to the align features where you pick the line you would like to extend then slect the line you would lile to extend to.
