I have 3 questions about a project for a really good friend.
So I have a 3d carve that I’m doing. It’s approx 20x20 in size. I’m using vectric software.
The project will be in 1¾ ash with a ton of detail. It’s showing 12 hours roughing and 14 hours finishing.
Here’s the setup:
Roughing - 46102k amana ¼ up cut
100 IPM with 45% stepover and 50 plunge
.25 boundary offset
.002 machine allowance
It’s a z level roughing strategy raster x
Finish- 46282 amana tapered ball nose 5.4 deg with .0313 tip radius
100 ipm with 16% stepover and 25 plunge
Using a raster machine strategy
As far as tooling is concerned, is there anything I need to change? anyway to speedup the process without having to do a ton of sanding?
How do you handle machining times that long? I don’t want my machine running unattended overnight. I’d like to give my machine and vacuum a break overnight and start again the following day. Whats the best option for doing this?
