Hi,
I’m interested in getting a CNC but would like to know how the Shapeoko 5 handles 8x4 sheets.
I see there is a tiling option in the software, so if the 8x4 sheet is fully supported both sides of the machine can you just let the machine run and do it’s thing or is there a need to feed the sheet through?
I would mostly be using this for 15 or 18mm ply cabinetry.
Thanks for any advice.

Tiling requires the sheet to be re-positioned for each ‘tile’. Accurately moving the sheet may require adding other features to you design so you have something to line up with - for example, holes for pins that go into a hole in the wasteboard.
Depending on the table size you choose, 2x4 or 4x4, will determine how much you can fit on the cutting surface. The sheet of plywood would still need to be held down so it wont move during cutting with the forces the machine can push against the sheet. So, clamps, screws, or nails, to hold the sheet down from moving would be some choices. Tiling works great for a full sheet, but you will have to add location holes or whatever you like for referencing the sheet when you move it into the machine more.
The machine will only cut on the surface inside the machine and once it is done cutting in that area during tiling, it will pause and allow for the moving of the sheet of plywood. Then once you have the sheet relocated, then continue the machine, then the machine will finish the tiling work. If you have a 4x4 table machine, then you could tile the sheet of plywood in with one push, but the 2x4 table would take 4 total locations of the sheet.
You should find what you are questioning in this post about tiling in CC.
