Hey Dan - Did you run both cooling tubes in with the spindle cable? I ran mine today and it’s REALLY tight. I needed extra space to be able to turn the corner at the end of the ‘X’ end cap and I had to undo everything to move the cables - couldn’t just pull them. I GREATLY appreciate the tip on this…I can’t imagine having to do all of that twice.
Lastly - since you have the 80mm - where did you find installation instructions for the cooler and spindle? The docs I have don’t seem to go into much depth regarding the 80mm spindle. For example, I see the strut kit, but don’t seem to see any reference to it in the installation guide (I could have missed it).
I did get both lines in the chains and they are tight. Tight to the point the drag chain on the gantry tends to fall off from time to time because of the cooling lines. Kind of like trying to shove size 12 feet in size 9 shoes .
One other suggestion, probably too late for this one, but if I had to do it over, I would connect the cooling lines to the spindle and then route in the drag chains. I had issues with the lines wanting to twist when tightening the connectors on the spindle and that is part of the issue with the gantry chain falling off.
The manual tells you to leave 65mm of hose/wire at the Z. Not enough. You need almost twice that. So…undo the drag chains (again) and move through more wire.
I also found that the hoses wanted to twist, but I had enough slack on them to be able to hold off the torque enough (I hope, because I haven’t seen water run through them…and hope it doesn’t run OUT of them! LOL.
My gantry train is not falling off, as far as I can tell - but it’s VERY stiff. I’m sure it will be even stiffer with water in the hoses. We’ll see.
I’m keeping track of the little glitches - and hope to write up something that will help the next guy whose in the 80mm, Sweepy Pro, Leg set options.
Well, I received 6 boxes in the last couple of days. I thought that was it. I anm missing several items. Are there supposed to be 7 boxes for a 5.1 with legs?
I should point out that, although there are glitches and things that have confused me, in all, it’s a very professional and well thought-out installation. And the product is a tank. The precision of the fit seems excellent - with the exception of the 80mm spindle hoses.
I’m missing the open first box and the baseframe and hybrid table box for sure. I also got some extras. Those seem to be in box 1. Not sure what I’m missing cause I don’t know what I’m supposed to have exactly.
What one should have should be spelled out in the instructions:
as modified by what was ordered and where it shipped from (UPS changed their shipping guidelines after we designed our initial packaging to match and we’re still getting things sorted).
I did get everything in the chains including chiller hoses as for the lines they do not matter which way they go in chiller and router I recommend not installing the input in chiller yet till after you fill it and use a bucket and turn on chiller to show it’s circulating through the router and lines. Due to the color of my hose I could not tell it was working. Then after Install the line …just a piece on mind knowing it works. Danny p.s. I wish they have a upgrade that the chain used for hdm can be purchased to fit 5.1 would make life a whole lot easier on install and less stress on chain .
The one thing the new machine “took away from me” was the space I had on my table around the machine. The new one, with the legs is all-machine…which is GREAT - except, now I don’t have anywhere to put my keyboard, mouse, and tablet… So what is everyone else doing? Has anyone found a nice (relatively inexpensive) solution for this - or is everyone making their own?
I have the articulated tablet holder from my old setup. Maybe I’ll set up a board like you did, put the keyboard and mouse on it, then attach the tablet holder to that board…get the two levels that I need. Thanks for the ideas!
