Ok…What In The World Just Happened. And What Do I Need To Do To Fix IT?
I just upgraded to whatever the latest CM is and ran a project like normal, but “This” time, unbeknownst to “me” While I’m waiting for the project to complete, raise up a bit and stop, so I can turn the router off, this sucker Raised ALL the way up and backs back to the home “With The Router Still Running”??? Is that some new addition, if so why? because I can “Promise You” that was not happening prior to this update???
Hmm, that’s the behavior I’ve had with CM for years now - job complete, raise all the way up, go to home. The only difference is now I don’t get the popup telling me to turn the router off.
Which machine do you have? Do you have the BitRunner accessory? Did you setup the new version of Carbide Motion with the correct machine configuration parameters via the setup wizard?
I have an SPROXXL with the BitRunner - it turns off the router when it raises up to Retract Height at the end of job, then moves the spindle fully up & straight to the back of the machine after I hit the OK confirmation dialog.
All i have is the old 3 XXL with bit setter
What the machine does is determined by:
- which post-processor is selected in Carbide Create if writing out G-code — if a .c2d file is sent, then an internal post which cannot be changed is used
- how Carbide Motion is configured
- how a specific version of Carbide Motion interprets the G-code in the .c2d file/how Grbl acts on it
If you’ll let us know the specifics we can look into what the machine does.
This changed and was brought up in a previous thread that is listed in the last link below. There were these other two threads started on it but I don’t think any action was taken to change it back to prompting for a router shutdown after a job completes and before homing the router.

I forgot to mention that I’m on CM v635 for Rpi.
The specifics? I was just running a project like I had been prior to updating. Previously, the router would “slightly” raise, but still be on after a project. CM would “prompt” me that I need to turn the router off, I’d do so and it would raise all the way and move to the back (not home).
Now, after i updated CM, while ago, I was standing right by my project, in my head like, well it’s less than a minute left, let me get ready to turn the machine off - Nope! that sucker rose all the way up and jetted off to the back (home) Router still on. Those are all the specifics I think I have. Not every time I’ve updated CM, have I need to do that resyncing it to the machine, I didn’t think I needed to this time either, so if there was a step I needed to do as far as Re-Selecting that i have the Shapeoko 3 XXL and not one of these Newer ones, well then, Yea…I failed at that, because I didn’t know I needed to do it everytime I update CM
I’ve always found it best to re-run the Setup Wizard:

Let us now which you have chosen for spindle setup in that.
ok, went through all the setup again and chose Compact Router
