Lathe for shapeoko

Has anyone setup a lathe to spin on a shapeoko?
I’m looking to create spindles and turn them slowly with a drill and let the router cut the profile.

Probably not what you have in mind but I did setup a (mini)lathe literally “on” a shapeoko3

Awkward and a little bit of an involved process (this was meant as a fun experiment rather than anything serious) but…it works

Mini-lathe + shapeoko?

So I did what one should usually not do: ignore @neilferreri’s advice, and proceed with my initial idea (seriously though, the reason for not going to the Dremel-on-a-custom-jig option is that I want to learn turning small objects anyway, so I invested in something that would be a bit less awkward to use and hopefully more precise) [DSC_0842] It’s like this mini-lathe and the SO3 were meant to work together. Other folks here have actually wired a 4th rotary axis they can control (not with the stock electronics though)

Close. I am looking to mount the drill outside on the shapeoko and bring in the material underneath the support rails. The stock I am running is 30” long.
