Probably not what you have in mind but I did setup a (mini)lathe literally “on” a shapeoko3
Awkward and a little bit of an involved process (this was meant as a fun experiment rather than anything serious) but…it works

Other folks here have actually wired a 4th rotary axis they can control (not with the stock electronics though)
