Here is an odd request. I’m wondering if you can create a lead in and lead out for a tool path?
Say I have drawer fronts cut out of plywood and all I want to do is cut out a notch on the top for a handle.
How would you go about make it cut just the notch area?

If I understand correctly, this would require two geometries and two toolpaths:
Dupe that in place, then go into Node Edit mode:
So you would need to do a complete contour tool path? Can you do just a cut out of the notch?
Of course. I use open boudaries & contour toolpath quite a bit. Something like this?
