…glue up 9 pieces of 3/4 inch wide by 10 inches long strips of maple and walnut and leave about 2 inches on each end and cut out the inside, every other one.
Basically, what one does is draw up the glued-up stock, and then set up the cut to match:

and duplicate as needed using Linear Array:

Probably the origin will be easiest if it’s at the lower-left corner, so select everything and drag:
To ensure that the interior material will be fully removed, offset a bit:
