Makita Collets ... What to do?

Looking for a information on what collets work for a Makita Router.
1/4" to 1/8" … etc…

We have a reducing collet in the shop (find it w/ a search).

Elaire Corp. sells a variety of collet sizes: http://www.elairecorp.com/makitaroutercollets.html

and there’s a 3/8" collet available as well: https://www.toolmarts.com/makita-763619-3-3-8-collet-for-3608b

I’ll vouch for the Elaire 1/8 collet, have had zero issues with runout.

You’re likely to only find a limited number of sizes, 1/4, 1/8, 3/8 is going to be it. There isn’t the variety there is for a true ER-x spindle.

Yeah, all that’s available is:

1/8",3/16",1/4" and 4 mm, 6mm, 8mm

and the aforementioned 3/8" collet. Also, due to their design, they have a narrower clamping range than ER-style collets do.

FWIW, I’ve been meaning to look into a 3/16" and 8mm collet — anyone have some suggestions for fabulous endmills which would make that worthwhile?

Call me a “Plain Jane”, but my excuse for the 3/16" ER-11 collet was when I bought a 3/16" end mill.

Haha, I can relate to that, for me it was a 3/8 diamond drag bit…I ordered it without noting the size.

Hey guys, if you call Elaire you’ll find out they actually do make makita 3/8s and currently have them in stock!

Which DDE bit did you get? I got this one because it was compact.

Yep, same one. …
