Meet the New Shapeoko HDM V3

I’m afraid it would mean a whole new Z assembl :frowning:

I have had to completely disassemble and reassemble both of my HDM’s because they were out of whack when they arrived. My best guess is both of them were put together on a Friday and then dropped off a forklift while being loaded. Have you found a new shipping service that won’t bang this thing around?

If anything was ever dropped, we would not have shipped it.

The entire base frame and packaging have been changed, making it more rigid and less likely it to come out of square when shipping.

Hmmm, I only had to remove the slats, to get at the hybrid rails to loosen them, to square my machine.

Yes, you read that right! I had to machine a jig for the assembly process as well!

Rob, were we able to determine if the aluminum slats can be made available for existing HDM owners? If so, at what cost?

Send a photo of your machine to sales@carbide3d.com so we can confirm that you have a V2. If so, we should be able to sell you a set for the V3, which have the same mounting pattern.

If the shipping services are suspect, I’ve used “Shockwatch” stickers on high-value shipments before. Had some turbos see 50Gs once on the way across the US. Changed carriers after that one.

The “this side up” stickers can also be informative. At my last job we made analytical laboratory equipment, much of which needed to remain upright. On one shipment, circumstantial evidence (sticker plus scuff marks) said that the shipper had actually rolled the box end over end while handling it…

I had a UPS delivery guy toss my Performax 16/32 sander over my front gate. It has always had issues.

Another time I am fairly certain that the UPS driver dragged my package behind his truck given the condition.

No matter what you do, things can happen.

New table arrived in great condition. Installed this morning. HDM V2 with V3 table.

@Lars.Thomas

Well, the iconic statement “Wheres the beef?” doesn’t seem to apply here. That spoil board is serious (as well as the rest of the machine).

You are right. 35lbs of beef in the table alone.
