My first project (that I will show)

I have been playing around with my new CNC, trying to learn what works well and mostly what doesn’t.

My son is a design engineer and has helped me with the basics of the software.

Anyway I thought I would dare to show my little project.

I’m confused why the “d” and the “m” are not completely routed as my design shows the font letters closed. Even when I zoom in to look at the nodes they show completely joined. Oh, well it actually looks ok. It is only about 7" x 1.5".

Most likely the tool wouldn’t fit.

Did you consider using a V carving instead?

I tried V carving on another project and I seemed to have an issue with it either being too wide or not deep enough.

Any suggestions on those settings that I can try?

This is a 1/16 ball end mill. I tried 1/8 but it took out all the stock inside the “e”, “d”, an “o”.

Looks good, Fred. Can’t wait to see more. Everybody starts knowing nothing.

Looks great, Fred! Keep creating and pushing your machine! My first project resulted in broken bits and crashing my router into the table. So the fact you have a finished product that looks great is a successful first project!

Ok, now I have a finished project for your review.

I had some latitude on this project for my designer customer. It is for her personal cabin so I am surprising her with the vcarve design using her name.
She gave me the dimensions (30"x23"x16") to fit a specific space so it looks a little out of proportion. She specified southern pine to match the cabin.

Anyway - take a look!
