Basically what im wanting to do is a gradual incline down, starting with a 3/4 board, coming down to 1/4 from end to end, but i can’t figure out the programming

The trick with gradients is setting the stock height correctly & the gradient must go from pure black to pure white. Importing an image will adjust/scale the image to fit the entire selected object or the workpiece, so if the image & import area are not the same aspect ratio, some of the imported image will appear outside the area. So you may not get the entire white to black range.
