Requesting help for tracing image

Title says it all… I have done it before bit for the life of me cant trace or get the image straight enough in the background to trace over. This is a universal gaming controller holder that I would like to do with the cnc vs scroll saw as i have done before. The end result can be for all, i just need some help.

I traced into wood as well to see if that would help but no luck.

Importing a file or a backgound image

I’ve searched, honestly, but I still can’t find out if the importing of images is fixed, or I’m just doing it wrong. Essentially, I drew around a spanner (wrench) with the intention of scanning it, editing the image in Affinity Photo, and then importing it as a background, to draw a vector over it, or as a vector. Thanks @WillAdams I will import a ruler to scale it. I was doing this just not grtting the results that i wanted image in background was turned slightly and thre everything off.

You’ll need to take the photo so that it’s as square as possible.

I like to put things on a square grid to photograph them, or use a scanner (if they’ll fit).
