Sanding Tray Pockets

Newbie Here - I have only have my Shapeoko 5 Pro for about three weeks. What is everyone using to sand their tray pockets? I am looking for a small orbital sander tool like a Dremel. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I have been wanting to experiment with this for a while, and I could not find anything on the forum. I’m not a big fan of manual sanding, so I figured I would try and use one of those tiny sanding discs that come with Dremels, which conveniently have a 1/8" shaft, and glue a 180 grit sanding disc on that: [image] Here’s my guinea pig for today: a large tray, as it stood after the clearing path + one contour finishing pass on the walls. I’ve gone this route and the results (reduced/eliminated need for sanding) have proven
worth the cost of the bit and time.

yeah big fan of a finishing pass with a bowl bit, run a perimeter cut then thin removal with the grain

edit: bit preference, I’ve worked through a few bits. the whiteside is pretty decent and the jenny bowl bit is nice, although I find the radius on the small side for what I want to cut

Need a small palm sander

I bought this air powered Ingersoll Rand random orbital sander that uses 3" velcro sanding pads, and I bought extra pads and cut them down to 2" and 1" diameters.
