Selecting a post-processor for Vectric

Hi,

I too just started seeing the same issue. I was sending files from vCarve Pro V12.5 an used the post processor Carbide Motion ATC (inches) (*.nc).

I even went back to reload all the software, still the same issue.

It was working great the day before.
Why with the same downloaded software it changes?

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

Rather than the video, a link to the file that causes the crash would be way more useful.

Here is a download LINK to the file( DropBox) its a vCarve 12.502 file.

Thank you for any help,
KAP

A Vectric VCarve file will need to be output to G-code in order to send to Carbide Motion.

Hi William,

I have this selected. What is the correct Post Processor? Where can I downlaod the correct one?

This is all I have to select … the ATC worked on the older version.

Thank you,
KAP

I would suggest the metric one instead, but that should work — write out G-code as a .nc or .gcode file and send that to Carbide Motion — if it doesn’t work, upload here, or to Dropbox and post the link and we will look into it with you.

Hi William,

This is what machine I have to choose from series …
Shapeoko 3, 4, 5 or Pro … Which one?

I had this one selected V12.502 …

What was the post processor for vCarve Pro V 12.014 … it worked!

Thanks for helping,
KAP

Select the one which matches the machine (though really, “Shapeoko” should be all that’s needed, and further customization could be for whether or no there is a BitSetter.

William,

I relaoded both programs CM and Vcarve. I have tried all the machine types for Carbide Motion listed in vCarve along with the post processors they list. … still crashing CM when opening a vCrave file.

I don’t know what else to try … I really need your help on this.

KAP

Please try the post-processor which matches your machine, then upload the .gcode (or .nc or .tap) file to here (or Dropbox and post the link).

Were you able to do “Hello World”?

If you make a very simple test file using Carbide Create does it work as expected?

I did look at it. Was not that helpful to be honest. I just tried to run an older Carbide Create file that worked 2 weeks ago … it crashed CM as soon as it started to load. Bugsplat file send, many of them.

Frustrated,
KAP

If even “Hello World” won’t work, then the problem is likely with some recent software update or something else at your end.

I’m going to delete that image from your post since it has your e-mail address in it.

Please try the standard computer-troubleshooting things:

  • reboot
  • check for updates
  • shutdown
  • verify no updates are pending
  • then try again

I am going to make a very simple pair of files for you to test with once that is done — if they still crash, then we’ll know there’s something up on your computer.

Here is a basic file:

which has origin set at bottom for 25mm stock

which has a toolpath which just barely makes a dent:

test_drill_0_01_bottom_25mm.c2d (44 KB)

and the G-code:

test_drill_0_01_bottom_25mm.nc (510 Bytes)

previews as expected:

When tested in CM640, both files:

load as expected, and when tested, ran to completion.

Loaded as expected using .gcode atc post processor. Vectric Aspire 12.5xx

I don’t know what machine you have, but the highlighted one works brilliantly for me on my Shapeoko Pro XXL.

Hi Cheu,

I will try that post processor on my Shapeoko Pro 5 and see if it works.
Did you see if it will import/open in Carbide Motion without crashing it? That is the issue I am having.

Thanks,
KAP

The screengrab shows the preview from Carbide Motion generated after opening the file.

William,
I did all you stated, reboot, updates, redownload programs, etc. I opened CM and opened the drill test files and it crashed CM.
I will try a different PP like Chue used.

One thing is I am sending the file from one office computer to a laptop in the shop over Wi-Fi. Its been working great until now.

What else can I check ???

Thank you the help guys, I am still at a loss. Got to be something simple.
KAP

Yes. Your file loaded with processor I specified on CM 640. No crash.
