Shapeoko 3 Maintenance Resources

  1. The track like cable channels are called “drag chains” there are two types:

Feed Through - ones that do not have a “gate” or “crossbar” that opens, so you have to feed them through. Sounds like that’s what you have.

Lay In - these have a gate or crossbar that opens so you can just lay your cables in it and then close the crossbars.

I do not know if they make the two styles compatible, so you would have to identify exactly what you have, and then look at the drawings for the same sized lay in drag chain and see if the geometry aligns properly.

  1. I have a 3XXL and I did design some drag chain brackets, but my drag chain is yuuuuuge!

So that is not going to help you much unfortunately, unless you upgrade your drag chain.

  1. I have a Suck-It dust boot, and that works really well. I like that it is independent of the spindle height. It’s not being made for any machines but theirs anymore, which is a shame. I have an original HDZ, so the mounting “wings” are different than any other one out there. The design of the dust shoe mounting setup - at least the one I have - is pretty simple. It came with a 2.5" hose fitting that I thought was too small, so I designed a 4" version.

EDIT: Wow, I was really hoping to have more that would help you immediately, but that does not look like the case.

Now that I am on a computer, and not trying to do this on my phone - regarding #2 - could you post a pic of what you are talking about? For my original SO3, I designed and 3D printed some mounts for the drag chains that were compatible with a smaller 15 x 30 mm drag chain.
