@SirGariff How do you like that Bauer dust collector?
So far I love it (the little I’ve been able to use it). I’ve realized that I have under-circuited my shop. For whatever reason, all outlets are on one breaker, so there is a tendency to kick the breaker if I have too many tools going. For instance…the planer and the dust collector.

I have the same problem. My garage is on one breaker too so I can’t run multiple tools at once. I never have an issue running the 4XL and Stealthsonic vac but if I turn on the table saw or another shop vac at the same time the breaker trips.
Exactly! My Pro5 and Stealthsonic work fine. But if I turn anything else on, usually it kicks the breaker and drills a nice hole in whatever project I’m working on on the CNC.
As folks who have been here a while know, my “shop” is a scattered series of spaces around the basements of our home and my mother-in-law’s — one of the most-used areas is a small table/cabinet in front of my machine — finally tidied it up well enough that things can be mostly cleaned up:
Usually it looks more like:
The lower left-most organizer is for current projects and probing pins, the bi-color organizer in the top-right corner is for those 6 department trays.
Next up is sorting out and organizing the floating arm platform next to the machine.
Will that is nice and tidy, where do you keep all your router bits?
Almost all of the endmills are in the yellow and blue organizers — the flat stack of rectangular cases next to the oil in the yogurt cup are the 1/8" 90 degree and downcut V endmills which I use (but have not yet successfully whined sufficiently to get Carbide 3D to carry), and there are a few odds-and-ends of tooling in some Lowe’s mini toolboxes on a shelf.
Nice! Someday mine will be organized. Someday…
I would love c3d to carry those downcut vees!!
@WillAdams , is that carpet on the floor around your machine?
Yes, my SO5 Pro and SO3 XL are in the finished portion of my basement.
The two SO3 standard size machines I have get hauled on to a back deck (either at home or my mother-in-law’s) to cut tropical hardwoods.
The 1/8" 90 degree V tools I have are upcut geometry.
“Mad props”, Will! When I rented my apartment I specifically requested one with laminate flooring instead of carpet, and even with a good-quality broom and a Stealthsonic I still find swarf in the soles of my socks on occasion…
Even though I’ve been in my space for years now, I’m still trying to finish up fine details and get everything in place. Not fully there yet, but I moved a few things around this past week and finally hung up a few things that have been sitting too long.
I refuse to show anyone the third bay behind me until I have another bonfire to get rid of the scrap.
Wow ! Third bay ? Ouch . Congrats !
It currently contains boxes, two bins of scraps I need to burn and one bin of scraps that should be burned but are just big enough that I’m unwilling to let them go because I can use them “for something later.”
I guess that’s an outfeed table that covers the CNC when not in use?
Interesting idea. Sadly it would take 20 minutes for me to clean it off every time I wanted to use the CNC if it’s normal state wasn’t opened.
You would be correct. The lift on the tabletop is an excellent motivator to keep things from piling up on it, but you can see that this often means that the detritus migrates to the wing of the tablesaw. Ideally I’d like to build a cabinet that will fit under that wing to hold blades and whatnot.
I’ve only had issue with stuff on the outfeed a few times when I wanted to cut. I will often put projects there that are drying. If I ever decide to upgrade from a SO4 to a SO5.1 or greater I think I’ll do something like the leg kit and build a shorter outfeed in the stead.
A minor upgrade, but another nonetheless and since I touch these multiple times in each project, it is worthy…
I hung my collet wrenches and “clamp screw driver” on, and recessed my BitZero bits into, my CNC table. Every day is a good day that I improve organization in the shop, no matter how minor.
Those tools were just slung in a tray on my work bench.
