Finally pulled the trigger on a rolling sheet material cart. Just got sick of have plywood and HDU stacked against one whole wall and up against my garage door. This will consolidate it all and I can roll it wherever I want to quickly get it out of the way as needed. Already have future upgrades to this in the back of my mind. Note: I made one side narrow to hold up to three full sheets of 1 1/2" HDU and the other side is for everything else. AND I’ll be able to put long boards in the center.

I built the rolling platform first then created a jig on the platform to make all the uprights exactly the same. And they WERE exactly the same! Yesss.

Here’s the casters I have used on EVERYTHING! 4 are rated as 2200 lbs.

Based on layout of the shop, I’ve not decided to go horizontal or vertical with this type design yet? But you have set yours up well for sure.

Wait what?

Surely you could have worked in some “variations” - you wouldn’t want it to look machine made, would you? LOL.

Good job.

Good day in the shop today. Loaded up my new sheet material holder and general “clean up”.

Here you can see why I desperately needed it. Look at that pile of stuff against the back wall.

And here it is without! Glorious space!

Next? I’m thinking French Cleats.

@GJM

You know… now that you say that maybe I’ll paint it fire engine red so it looks like machined metal :joy:.

Did you find everything you forgot you lost ?

Pretty much! I handled everything.

Not sure why this post got opened up again, but since it did, here are a few upgrades I was able to add during a recent 2 week vacation.

Finally got the French Cleat wall going.

Love the Bauer dust collector!

Built 3 outfeed tables, one of which has a dog hole system incorporated into it. Used this video. He made it easy! https://youtu.be/MwGb4NK42O4?si=AONEDcuuO-DVv6pL

Also got my lumber off the floor and up on the walls (already ordered 2 more sets of the lumber racks).

I just came across the thread and thought it should be open forever, like the “What I made today” thread.

I have a small 2-car garage from the '50s (half-filled with bikes, my kid’s surfboards, and the standard tools), so I have to live vicariously through the rest of you.

I have a large 2 car garage which is jammed full of tools and some camping gear. I don’t allow cars or bikes or lawnmowers in there but I am still overcrowded. In fact our house is up for sale so I ca find a place where I can build a proper shop. I am jealous of people that manage to work out of small spaces. I can do a lot of stuff but working on large projects or multiple projects in different phases is a problem.

Looks like there’s lots of room for toys. The more you organize the more room you have the more goodies you accumulate

You know THAT’s right!!

I always keep my eye out for a place that either has a shop or where I could build one but… everything that meets my criterion is over a million so its out to the garage I go
It’s not so bad … I just have to move my CNC, folding tablesaw, planer, chop saw… then move them all back so I can bring the car in at the end of the day.

Aug '25 was a LONG time ago it seems. How is the shop coming?

I have lots of room to build a shop. Just not an HOA that allows it. Unless I make it look like a house from the outside. I own the lots on either side of the house so could build a shell that looks like a house and make its shop inside. But that costs too much.
