How does one go about replacing the spoil board on a Shapeoko 3 once its worn out?
you make a spoil board to go on top of the one that comes with the machine and then you can replace it once it has been cut into after many projects don’t cut into the one that comes with the machine.
Try these links:
look at this thread: Here Is The File for my shapeoko 3 xxl threaded wasteboard
The easiest way to do this is to remove the original, source a suitable piece of MDF, clamp the twain together and using the original as a template, use transfer punches, drills, and countersinks to make matching holes.
Then, I would suggest fashioning a spoilboard which matches the supported work area of the machine and working up a way to secure it so that it can be replaced while still in place (four nylon machine screws through it w/ a deep countersink and into suitably placed threaded inserts seems a reasonable approach).
If you need a file for reference measurements it’s at: https://docs.carbide3d.com/support/#shapeoko — if fashioning your own isn’t an option let us know at email@example.com and we’ll see what can be worked out.
Brilliant! Thank you!
